Heritage: Making the New Album

by Tim Swanson
In February all of the songwriters met at Moon Valley Bible Church to begin working on a brand new recording project.
With the overwhelming success of New Song, the songwriters were charged with energy to start writing again. The theme is the new album is renewed hymns. Each songwriter selected a couple public domain hymns (meaning they are so old that they are no longer protected by copyright). Then they began arranging the songs and adding verses and choruses of their own.
It takes epic beards to make epic music.
The writing process was four months long. Then last Monday the songwriters had their first rehearsal with the studio band. The energy in the room was palpable as they practiced some of the brand new arrangements with the songwriters.
Now the musicians will rehearse for a couple months before heading into the brand new studio that they built after the release of New Song. And Mario Rossetti, the production genius behind New Song, is back to record and master this project.
MV Music (the Music Ministry at Moon Valley Bible Church) is fortunate to be packed with high quality songwriters. And this album promises to provide the same unique energy and token diversity of genre that the team has become known for. If you liked New Song, you'll absolutely love this one.

The new project will be called Heritage, and the release is targeted for the end of October. The album will have music from some of your favorite songwriters, like Jonathan Thomas. And it will debut a few up and coming songwriters like Allie Houtz, Amy Turisk & Andrea Cilley.
