My Big Plans for TimHSwanson.com in 2014

The end of the year is all about goal setting. In fact, if you’re a regular blog reader, you may be tired of seeing ‘goal setting’ posts from your favorite bloggers. Hopefully, you’ve reached the year end with some measurable goals to make next year better.

I’ve been doing some reflecting on the upcoming year, which has resulted in some decisions about this blog, and the other content I’m putting out. Before we kick into 2014, I want to share my plans with you.

I started writing on TimHSwanson.com for a couple reasons. First, I was mentoring a number of other leaders, and this seemed like a great way to expand the reach of the wisdom that people have been seeking from me. Secondly, it seemed like a safe way to step out into the national, and even international, arena of influence. I assumed that I would need to build credibility and, at first, no one would read what I was writing. I was wrong about that.

After blogging for about 10 months, I’ve been published and reposted on more than a dozen leadership websites and printed publications. The TimHSwanson.com audience has grown to become larger than I originally expected was possible. It’s been an encouraging year, and it’s all been because of readers like you.

So as we head into 2014, I wanted to share my most significant goals with you. They’re all focused around making your experience more encouraging and beneficial.

1. Laser focused content. Your time is valuable, and I want to continue to look for ways to give you the biggest bang for your blog reading buck. In 2014, I’ll be working to provide content that is more targeted to the leadership challenges you face every day. For me, that means more conversations with other leaders, and lots of them. I’ll be listening for the things that leaders, like you, want to be learning about.

2. Better writing. Back in July, I was cruising around Michael Hyatt’s Blog. He’s one of my biggest influences. I read this quote from Friedrich Nietzsche, “It is my ambition to say in ten sentences what others say in a whole book.” For me, 2014 will be about telling excellent stories, presenting the best ideas in leadership, and making every word count.

3. Setting a new release date for Good Fight. I’ve been working with an editor for the final stages of my ebook, Good Fight. Her name is Brittany, and she’s brilliant. She’s also helped me see that providing the kind of ebook that I can be confident in, and you can enjoy will take a little more time. That’s why I’m pushing back the release date a couple weeks. You’ll get your copy on the new release date, January 15th.

If you haven’t reserved your FREE copy yet, you can do so by clicking here, or click on the book cover in the sidebar.

4. Giving the website a makeover. This year, I'll be moving this website from Blogger to WordPress. If you're not much of a blogger yourself, that just means I'm giving the website a makeover. Ultimately, that will provide more functionality and a better feel for my readers.

5. Spicing it up with more variety. I’ll be using videos more next year to tell stories and communicate important information. This year could hold other variety in terms of content, such as a podcast. Stay posted for more details on that.

Among all those plans, my main goal in 2014 is to provide the absolute best in leadership ideas for my readers, thats you, who I appreciate so very much. Thank you for a great year! I can’t wait to see God’s plans that lay right around the corner.

Warmly,
Tim H. Swanson
